"The history of Tonnino Winery has begun in the early 1950s, when the grandfather Paolo started an entrepreneurial business based on the production of most grapes destined to the mainly wine firms of Sicily. At the beginning of the nineties Antonio, Paolo's nephew, concludes the agro-technical studies and decides to support his grandfather in the winery activities. In that period, it started the diversification of the vineyards by planting International grape varieties and by reorganizing the equipment system, in conformity with the evolution of oenological world in those years. Benefiting by his grandfather's enormous experience, rewarded by the City of Alcamo as the best farmer of the area, Antonio reorganizes the whole productive structure, from the vineyards to the bottling, investing considerable resources in the quality consolidation of production in order to satisfy the requests of a more demanding global market. At the present time, the wine-producing potential is exalted by rigorous trimming in order to obtain more fine wines. The geographical position, the ground exposure and the soil composition, already dedicated to the wine growing for centuries, are all aspects that facilitate the work of the oenologist. The Tonnino Estates are placed in the Belice Valley, in the territories of Contessa Entellina, Poggioreale and Salaparuta, famous micro-zones for imprinting an important and strong personality to the wines produced."
