Amaro, Italian for bitter, is an herbal liqueur produced by macerating dried herbs, roots, flowers, bark and citrus peels in alcohol and then blending it with a mixture of sugar, alcohol and caramel. An ideal after dinner drink that can also be served mixed in cocktails.

 Born in 1894, Amaro Lucano is based on a secret recipe passed from generation to generation of the Vena family.

Due to the delicate blend of more than 30 herbs, it has a distinct flavour, ideal for any occasion.

Lucano is the result of tradition and has grown through innovation. These are now the values of the Vena family who, since 1894 and now in its fourth generation, has made the company a reference point in Italy and the world in the production of spirits.

In 1894, in the small town of Lucania in the province of Matera, Vena Pasquale created the recipe for Lucano Amaro. This recipe is still a secret today.

Years later, Lucano became the official spirit of the Royal House of Savoy. After a short hiatus during World War 2, Lucano came roaring back in the late 1950's. Lucano's popularity soared in the 60's as national campaigns across Italy took it from a beloved local product to a liqueur appreciated world wide. Due to the popularity of their flagship Amaro, Lucano expanded their line in the 70's with the addition of Sambuca, Limoncello, and Caffe.
