CloseCrafted at Maison Leblon in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Leblon Cachaça is produced with the expertise of French Master Distiller Gilles Merlet. Combining Brazilian tradition with fine wine techniques, the process begins with hand-selected, high-altitude sugarcane pressed within three hours of harvest.
Following an 18-hour temperature-controlled fermentation, the spirit is batch-distilled in copper alambique stills. Only the "heart" of the distillate is captured, triple-filtered, and rested for six months in French XO Cognac casks. This meticulous approach results in an ultra-smooth, award-winning cachaça (40% ABV) featuring a delicate, fruity nose and complex finish.
Wine Enthusiast 90 points - Inside the tall, distinctive lime-green bottle, look for a faintly yellow-tinged liquid with pungent, ripe tropical fruit aromas. Though it's a little intense straight up, with brown sugar sweetness fading into a long fruity finish, it stands up well in a long drink with soda, like a mojito. - K.N..June/2011
