"The wine has a ruby purple color of medium depth with carmine hues. The aroma has good volatility delivering bright fresh fruit, dark cherry, plum, and currant. There is a whiff of something exotic. A tropical flower perhaps; maybe hibiscus. The bouquet plays a supporting role to the aroma. For the past five years we have slowly backed off on the percentage of new oak barrels used to age Sangiovese in order to let the fruit play a more prominent role. With time in the glass scents of vanilla, cinnamon and rose petal make a subtle appearance. On the palate succulent flavors of black cherry, currant, toasty oak, along with nutmeg, and hazelnut are delivered by a wine with a silk texture. The tannins are mature and well-integrated. The finish is savory with lingering flavors of dark fruit transitioning to milk chocolate and toast."
