Grape: Muscat Canelli
Region: River Junction, San Joaquin County, California, United Sates
Distributor's Notes:
"The Muscat Canelli has a medium straw color. Upon pouring you may observe a very fine cloud of minuscule bubbles that quickly rises to the surface and dissipates. This is the last of the carbon dioxide from the fermentation. On the palate these bubbles, while not as large or as strong as soda pop or sparkling wine can be felt as a fine tingle as if the wine is dancing across your tongue. The aromas are of crisp green apple with notes of pear, peach, and apricot. There are also sweet scents of citrus blossoms along with floral notes of honeysuckle and lilac. On the palate the wine reflects the flavors of ripe sweet Muscat grapes. Muscat is a wine that does indeed mirror the flavors of the ripe grape. While sweet there is plenty of balancing acidity, particularly malic acid the predominate acid in apples. This bright tartness is the key to keeping the wine refreshing. This is dessert in a glass, something you might imagine coming from an apple tart having been liquified and chilled."
