"Palhete is a traditional light red wine from Portugal, typically a field blend of white and red grapes. In the town of Mêda, where the Carvalho-Martins family is from, their style, dating to the 1960s, is a bit more specific to the Douro and is a very light extraction red grapes (in this case Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão), essentially a direct press rosé with skins from their red grapes added at the end of fermentation to extract more color and tannins. A perfect wine for a holiday feast!"
