Aromas of dark ripe plums, violets, roasted meat, and a note of earth beckon for a sip. The palate is complex yet approachable, with dark fruit flavors, a slight peppery note, and a light touch of used oak that is backed by a refreshing acidity. This is an ideal beef wine but can also go with lighter dishes.
The Dos Minas Malbec is 100% Malbec from 15-year-old vines in Finca Rio Seco vineyards of Cafayate, Argentina near Salta in northern Argentina. These vineyard sites are warm, but very high in altitude at 1,700 m above sea level, so there are very warm days and cool nights, great for ripening grapes. The grapes were harvested by hand over the 1st and 2nd week of March in 20kg bins, and then fermented in stainless steel. The aging for the wine takes place partially in stainless steel and partially in neutral oak. 1,500 cases produced.
