"What makes this 2023 Clos Robert Cabernet so dang special is the thoughtful and unique approach to blending. By incorporating small amounts of Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah, this one is a gorgeous, rich blend that manages stay under 14% alcohol while delivering all the hedonistic satisfaction you want from Paso Robles. There’s beautiful depth of fruit here – layers of blackberry and cassis framed by subtle oak and those distinctive Paso notes of wild herbs and dusty earth. The tannins are present but polished, giving the wine structure without aggression. It’s going to win over a lot of folks."

"The Clos Robert Winery was started in 1985 when a French Company failed in their bid for Kendall-Jackson. So Clos Robert was born with a "French Connection." The first vintage came mostly from a winery in Oakville and sold out in 2 weeks after a review from a journalist. So here we are in a new Millennium...Clos Robert has been “reborn”, and my previous employer has graciously sold me the winery permit and its labels. Today we have to be more focused, and careful in our blending process. Our philosophy has always been to over-deliver for the price, but today in order to get good fruit, and out-standing bulk, you have to pay a little more. I have hired a coordinator/oenologist who lives in Healdsburg, so now I can be tipped off faster to top parcels available. We buy about 50 to 60% of our needs as grapes and custom crush them at a rented facility in Sebastopol."
