Bruna, Pigato Maje Riviera Ligure di Ponente
Grape: Pigato
Geography: Liguria, Italy
Importer's Notes
“Majè,” in the Ligurian dialect, refers to the stone terraces in the area.
Sourced from young vines (less than 50 years old) planted in limestone-rich soils mixed with white & blue clay, dense with fossils. The bulk of the grapes come mainly from the hill of Garaxin, above the village of Pogli, 210-260 meters above sea level. South-facing vineyards planted on traditional stone-walled terraces.
The grapes are destemmed, soft-pressed, and fermented at 18°C. Aged in stainless steel tanks for 5 months on the lees.
