Tasting Notes

AROMA WITHOUT WATER Very sweet and malty initially, with vanilla, toffee and banana influences. TASTE WITHOUT WATER Peppery and creamy with defined sweet fruit flavours, ripe bananas. AROMA WITH WATER Fresh and malty, with hints of coffee and cocoa. Vanilla notes with a touch of citrus fruits, lemons. TASTE WITH WATER Chili spice, with tropical fruit flavours. Creamy with a dark chocolate edge.


Producer's Notes

Our distillery - Speyside’s smallest - is located on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres, in north-east Scotland. Just two experienced distillers passionately hand-craft Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach for many years. Only when it has matured to our highest quality standards do we bottle it and proudly label it - Benromach Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. We adopt a very simple approach to creating our Single Malts - each part of the art of whisky making impacts on the final product. Like a jigsaw, each part of the whisky making process contributes to the final quality product. Benromach Distillery is owned a managed by Gordon & MacPhail - a family business for over 100 years.


Wine Enthusiast 90 points - This five-year-old Speyside single malt is certified organic by the Soil Association Certification-a distinction not often seen on Scotch labels. The spirit inside has an enticing apple and pear aroma. The palate is relatively hot, leading with oak and spice into a long vanilla finish. Adding water softens the profile to vanilla cream, plus hint of lemon and ginger on long, drying finish..Kara Newman, December/2017

Initially launched in 2006 as the world’s first bottled Single Malt to be fully certified as organic. The whole process, including the use of the raw ingredients, distillation, maturation and bottling, is certified to the rigorous standards set by the UK Soil Association. The whisky is matured in virgin American oak casks from environmentally managed forests which has added a unique robustness and depth which complements the traditional Benromach spirit.
