A 92-proof Highland heavy-hitter with 50ppm peat. Unlike Islay’s brine, Ballechin 10 offers "industrial" smoke, oily motor fumes, and forest floor notes balanced by Oloroso sherry sweetness. Non-chill filtered with a thick, savory, and ashy finish.

CloseBallechin 10 Year Old is the core heavily peated expression from the Edradour Distillery, one of Scotland's smallest traditional distilleries. Known for its "farmy" and "industrial" peat character, it offers a distinct alternative to the medicinal or maritime smoke typically found in Islay whiskies.
Ballechin is peated to a minimum of 50 ppm (parts per million), putting it in the same smoke category as Ardbeg or Laphroaig, but with a more earthy, "dirty" profile.
Aroma (Nose): Intensely aromatic with notes of wood smoke, charred oak, and forest floor. You may also find "industrial" hints of diesel engine fumes and machine grease balanced by lime jam and dark chocolate.
Palate (Taste): Thick and oily mouthfeel. Initial sweetness of butterscotch and orchard fruits gives way to burning hay, coal dust, and savory notes like roasted meats or "salted almonds".
Finish: Long and ashy with lingering earthiness, black pepper, and citrus peel.
