"From a vineyard near Watsonville that doesn’t meet the elevation requirement to be within the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, the Pinot Gris Basor Vineyard is still from the colder side of the area. Winemaker Keegan Mayo gives 40% of the grapes 24 hours of skin-contact and whole-cluster ferments the rest. Barrel-fermented six months in neutral French oak, it’s a sleek, light-bodied, savory white wine with crunchy texture, racy in acidity, with punches of saline and salty sea air."
