Oppida Aminea / Sannio Greco Caucino / 750mL
100% Greco vinified in stainless steel with a short cold soak and aged for over a year in bottle. The character on the front label is included in the alphabet of the Osco Sannita dating from pre-Roman times when Caucino was the name of the present-day Falerno.
Sannio is the modern Italian word for Samnium, the name of a mainly upland region stretching between the present-day borders of Basilicata and Lazio. It was at its most vital as an independent political and cultural region between 600 and 290 BC. Winemaker Francesco Iacono, with the support of the Muratori family, has set out to explore this ancient territory through the cultivation of its most renowned native varieties. Falanghina, Greco, Fiano and Coda di Volpe are grown in vineyards near Benevento that have been developed to require minimal anti-fungal treatments.
