Casa de Saima / Bairrada Rosé / 2019 / 750mL
Wedged between Porto and Lisbon along the Atlantic coast, Casa de Saima sits in the ancient Bairrada region of the country where the local red grape Baga is the star. This is a grape very similar to Pinot Noir and these very very old vines mixed with a small amount of Touriga Nacional (a dark powerful red grape) provide a wine that is both plush and juicy yet racy, tart and refreshing in the mouth. VERY food friendly this gem is crafted by the legendary female winemaker Graca Maria who works biodynamically, with devotion to the land itself. A beautiful introduction to the serious yet simple Rosés of Portugal.
