100% Pais. Estate has been in the family since 1776, making Manuel the 7th generation to make wine. Up until 2009 they were mostly selling their juice in bulk, then Manuel decided to start bottling his own label. The fermentation is cut short to make for light, easy drinking ‘aperativo’ wine… it is sold in 1L bottles because, well, 750ml is just not enough :) He used to age his wines in old foudres, but the earthquake of 2010 destroyed them all. He now leaves the wines in fiberglass vats for a short time before bottling. Uses horses and chickens in the vineyards, volcanic soil… maybe a sort of Chilean version of our vino di Anna Etna Palmento (Nerello Mascalese). We can’t keep this one in stock, which is tough as the wine has a long journey to get to us!
