Wine Enthusiast 92 points - Ken Wright recently sold the vineyard to Angela Estate, but continues to make these wines for the owners. The 2013 is sleek and refined, with pristine clarity. Let it breathe and it warms into nicely rounded flavors of cherry fruit, along with highlights of orange peel and pekoe tea. Finishing notes suggest coffee grounds and dark chocolate..Paul Gregutt, February/2016
Vinous 91 points - Vivid ruby. A complex, highly fragrant bouquet evokes ripe raspberry and cherry cola, and vanilla, woodsmoke and peppery spice notes add complexity. Appealingly sweet red fruit, spicecake and floral pastille flavors pick up a hint of mocha as the wine opens up. Closes on a floral note; sneaky tannins fold smoothly into the energetic fruit..Josh Raynolds, December/2016
Every wine produced under the Angela Estate label is single vineyard, estate Pinot Noir. The vines are farmed nutritionally, which treats the microbiology in the vineyards section by section. Soil and stem samples are analyzed for nutritional value. It is the most specifc grape farming imaginable. Our fruit is hand harvested in the early morning in small 14” buckets. It is then hand sorted and de-stemmed, deposited into one-ton bins for small-batch fermentations. After fermentation, the free-run juice is settled and put into barrel. The must is placed in “The Girls,” specialized bladder presses for gentle pressing that do not exceed one atmosphere of pressure. The wine rests for 11 months in 30% new French oak barrels. We like Cadus barrels for their warm tonality.
