"The 2014 Rouget is a wonderfully complete wine that melds together super-ripe, racy fruit and structure. Succulent red cherry, rose petal, mint and white pepper give the wine its distinctive aromatic and flavor profile. Even with all of its flamboyance, the 2014 has plenty of structural underpinning. A few years in bottle should help the wine soften a bit. Even so, this is a decidedly opulent Pomerol. The 2014 was quite impressive both times I tasted it." (AG) (2/2017)

"The Château Rouget 2014 must have one of the ripest and opulent Pomerol noses that I encountered during my extensive tastings.. . scents. The palate is rounded, decadent and powerful, plus and concentrated in the mouth with grippy tannin, though the finish is missing the precision and finesse to really complete the package. I am intrigued to taste this Rouget in bottle - it is unlike any other recent vintage that I have tried." (NM)(4/2015)
History of Château Rouget began several centuries ago. Already known at the end of the Roman Empire, the Estate's terroirs were at that time merged with Saint-Emilion's ones. Château Rouget is certainly the Estate in Pomerol which has made the most progress during last 20 years.
Clay and gravel soils combined with the unique micro-climate of Pomerol plateau offer ideal conditions for Merlot. Combined with Cabernet Franc, the latter reveals its best expression through our wines which are renowned for their elegant structure and complexity.
